Advent Calendar: Elfie’s Christmas Letters 2018
The Elves borrow Father Christmas’ computer to write to all the children in your family. For families who prefer fewer letters or have busy children, we have our North Pole Christmas Letters (5+ years old). For the much younger children (3-4 yrs old), who prefer more activity based magical letters, our Candy Cane Christmas Letters, a seven letter set, are perfect!
We deliver a well-disguised package to you, containing:
- 25 Christmas letters from Elfie, magically interspersed with letters from 7 other Elves. Letters 1-24 are dated, and all are addressed to your children. Each letter is lovingly illustrated by hand, and complete with ink splodges, marks, and smudges. *Letter 25 is for delivery any time after Christmas Day.
- An Emergency letter from Mother Christmas explaining why Elves aren’t allowed to reply to letters children write to them, but encouraging them to continue doing so. Believe me, this will be very handy!
- 26 envelopes with all the children’s names on each one.
- A hand-drawn map of the village in the North Pole.
- A certificate from the Postmaster General congratulating the children for being chosen to receive the letters.
- A tick box Letter from Father Christmas for your child(ren) to find on Christmas morning!
As the Christmas season arrives the excitement gets the better of the Elves. They’re easily distracted, rather clumsy, and make huge amounts of mess. Do your children know what a Cinnamon Mine is or what a Magical Wind Machine does?
Each day through December, on the lead up to Christmas, you secretly deliver a new letter on the Elves’ behalf!
The Practical Bit
Hide them among the bills and junk mail, lay them on the table first thing in the morning, stashed among the toys, or snuggled up in their bed. You choose where your children find the letters, to create a magical daily family ritual the kids will love!
Christmas 2018 – Dazzling Disco Sleepover!
… Elfie tells us a magical and fun story (interspersed with letters from seven other Elves!) that really sparks children’s imaginations through Advent on the countdown to Christmas …
The morning after their Emergency Pyjama Meeting over in Cranberry Cabin, the Elves discover a very unusual tree in the forest. Made out of ice! It has a door, and a key. But they have to wait for something to happen before they can go inside. When they finally do get to go inside, it isn’t as they imagine! Then one day, Elfie spots a very special glittery scroll poking out of it’s lock. It’s an invitation to a Disco Sleepover! This causes much excitement, and much planning!
Then the Elves discover that all the wonderful smells of Christmas Day are stuck inside one of the pipes of the Magical Wind Machine. How can they get them out? They discover by accident that, every time someone says or does something kind, they move in the right direction. But when someone says something unkind, or plays a prank instead of working (Marty!), they move in the wrong direction! Can your children help the Elves get their Christmas Day smells back in time?
And very important questions are raised: has Marty’s new Potion worked? Will the Sleigh be fixed in time, and where are its Jingle Bells? Who is the new Elf, and why are they coming? What are Catch-Me-If-You-Can bushes and what grows on them? Why is the Cinnamon Mine flooding with Hot Chocolate? What’s on Lily’s Important List? What ‘extras’ will Father Christmas’ uniform and the Sleigh have this year? … and more importantly, who is the surprise DJ at the Disco Sleepover, and what was so unusual about their midnight feast?
Includes letters from Elfie PLUS letters from seven different Elves (aka the North Pole Christmas Letters) …
So, with our ever loveable narrator, Elfie 😊.
(Btw Is Elfie a boy or a girl? And how old?? Some families swear Elfie’s a boy, while others insist Elfie’s a girl).
We have …
Marty, who loves pranks, inventions, experiments and sweets, and is always up to something. And this year’s no exception! He’ll do anything to avoid hard work. Or any work. The question is … has his new Magic Potion turned out as he’d hoped? He didn’t like how it tasted first of all, so he added a couple of things to sweeten it up. But … was this a big mistake? And will his new Automatic Dressing Machine ever work properly??
Lyra‘s the new Elf on the block. She been brought in by Father Christmas from the North Pole Route Planning Department, to prevent the Sleigh from crash landing like it did last Christmas Eve! Lyra’s a total whizz at computers, wears purple specs and is super cool. She’s also come up with a clever contraption to get the reindeer back on course if they get distracted …
Jenny‘s the chief gardener in the North Pole Garden, and excitedly reports the Catch-Me-If-You-Can bushes have sprouted! They have something extremely precious growing on their leaves, and the Elves only have 23 seconds to collect them before the bushes vanish again. What can they be? And a VERY unusual blue plant did something very unexpected …
Lily being the most organised Elf, has started one of her infamous “Important Lists”. The Elves have been invited to a Disco Sleepover in the new Magical Ice tree on Christmas Eve! Among the prizes Lily has planned, are Magic Sprinkles (that change your hair colour as many times as you like, for one week), and a voucher to miss ONE weekly bath. Lily thinks Marty’s highly unlikely to win the “Best Behaviour After Festive Midnight Feast” prize!
Dani‘s list of things to sort out, seems to be growing! The big Clock in the Elves’ Workshop that usually sings “We Wish You A Merry Christmas” to whoever arrives at the door, has been playing ‘There’s A Worm At the Bottom Of My Garden” instead. Which is totally UN-Christmassy and not at all welcoming! But his most urgent job is to mend the Jingle Bells on The Sleigh. They’re all battered and bent, and sound terrible! He’s also adding a few exciting ‘extras’ to The Sleigh this year … including an Ejector Catapult!
Stan‘s the Chief Miner in the Cinnamon Mine, (and is particularly good at drawing). They were all woken up at precisely quarter past three in the middle of the night, by a loud GUSH. The Mine was flooding with Hot Chocolate! Despite drinking twelve mugfuls each, the Cinnamon Mine continued to flood! Will they manage to get out in time?
Dave The Stitch and the other Elves in Pine Needle Lodge, are working with a rather exciting selection of 40 different fabrics for Father Christmas’ special Christmas Eve Safety Underwear. They’re planning some very excellent safety features to cover all eventualities! The underwear controls will be linked up to Lyra’s new Computerised Route Planning System, to ensure the right feature is activated at the right time!
… I hope the kids like it!
